the big pattern of dots makes me smile 

for some reason. 

must be that "beauty and function" thing I like so much, 

or that I love to pretend I'm french sometimes.

sometimes when I'm in my kitchen

I just feel so lucky to be designing linen tea towels. 

I keep them handy in a big ceramic bowl next to the stovetop, 

new ones and old ones, and just grab them 

to use as potholders or hotpads or 

for drying the counters or my hands. 

I love the texture that comes through the inks 

as they're washed time and time again.

I wish it was me who was off to italy... 

but these lucky aprons and tea towels 

are going to milan today 

for a photo shoot at

la cucina italiana magazine.

I can just picture them... hmmmm.

a studiopatro customer at the etsy / west elm sale

bought tea towels for her sister who wears them as scarves. 

she tried one of our washed samples, mandala in mineral, 

to see if it would work, and 

voila!

color of the year

2012 pantone color of the year 

is a shade of red-orange that is "spot on" to our 

copper.

apartment therapy calls it 

"an eminently acceptable dose of happy color 

to add to your interiors" 

 

and we think 

it's always a good idea 

to balance the vibrancy with some beautiful neutral grays.
